continual drive to zero is the committee’s
mainstay. Its mantra is simple: “Safety is
not proprietary.” It must be shared so that
all companies can elevate their practices
and join in the quest for zero.
Recognition Backed by Evidence
Although I am admittedly biased, OGCA
members are hands down the safest
companies in construction. This is not
just my opinion—it is a fact backed by
quantifiable evidence.
First, at our Safety Advisory meetings
and various industry events, the Chief
Prevention Officer continually highlights
OGCA members as the benchmark for
safety across all sectors. Dr. Moody
frequently references OGCA’s record and
unwavering commitment to safety, and
reminds us that the ultimate destination
is zero: zero critical injuries, zero fatalities,
zero accidents.
Second, the Workplace Safety and
Insurance Board (WSIB) provides OGCA
with annual Lost Time Injury (LTI) hours
for each member. This data forms the
basis for our Leaders in Safety event, held
every November to celebrate the incredible
achievements and dedication of OGCA
members in ensuring every worker returns
home safely at the end of the day.
These accomplishments do not happen
without immense effort and attention
to fostering a culture of safety for every
worker.

garners attention for all the right reasons.

health and safety and for never wavering
in your commitment to sending them
home safely every night. And thank
you for never resting on yesterday’s
