Recent Advocacy Highlights
As part of our continued efforts, the
OGCA recently made a formal submission
to the Ministry of Finance during the
province’s pre budget consultation
process. This submission outlined speci昀椀c
recommendations aimed at improving
the overall business climate for general
contractors while supporting long term
industry sustainability. Our comments
re昀氀ected member priorities and sought to
ensure that public policy recognizes both
the complexity of project delivery and
the importance of a stable, competitive
construction sector.
In addition, the OGCA responded
to an invitation from the Ministry of
Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills
Development to provide feedback on
proposed legislative changes governing
unpaid wages for workers of subtrades.
The Association carefully reviewed
the proposals and offered informed
commentary, balancing the need to protect
workers with the realities of contractual
relationships and payment structures
within the construction value chain.
Copies of both submissions are attached
for member review. Transparency
and information sharing are essential
components of our advocacy work, and we
encourage members to stay informed and
engaged.
