Her recognition serves as a testament
to the critical role women continue to play
across every facet of construction, including some of the industry's most challenging and high-impact environments.
Honouring Community Leadership
The evening concluded with the
presentation of the Community
Involvement Award, recognizing a
woman who makes a meaningful impact
beyond the workplace through advocacy,
volunteerism, leadership, and community
engagement.
The award criteria focused on individuals who actively participate in industry
or community initiatives, create positive
outcomes through sustained effort, build
meaningful partnerships, and serve as
ambassadors for both their organizations
and the construction industry.
The inaugural recipient was Nicole
El-Sayah, Assistant Project Manager with
EllisDon's Civil Division.
As Toronto Area Lead for the PEACE
network, El-Sayah has become widely
recognized for her ability to bring people
together and foster inclusive environments where everyone feels welcomed
and valued. Through the organization of
networking events, Pride initiatives, and
community engagement activities, she has
helped create stronger connections both
within the industry and throughout the
broader community.
Her thoughtful approach to leadership
and her dedication to building a culture of
belonging have had a positive and lasting
impact on those around her. By creating
opportunities for engagement and collaboration, El-Sayah exempli昀椀es the type
of community leadership the award was
designed to celebrate.
Strengthening the Construction
Community
While the awards provided an opportunity
to recognize three exceptional women,
the event's broader success was reflected
in the high level of participation and
engagement among members. Throughout
the evening, attendees exchanged ideas,
shared experiences, expanded their
professional networks, and celebrated the
accomplishments of colleagues and peers.
The Women in Construction Gala
continues to demonstrate the value of
bringing members together to learn from
one another and strengthen relationships
across the industry. Events such as these
foster a sense of community while creating
opportunities to recognize the individuals
whose efforts contribute to a stronger and
more inclusive construction sector.
As the evening drew to a close, attendees joined in one 昀椀nal round of applause
for all award recipients and nominees. The
inaugural Women in Construction Awards
established a meaningful new tradition for
the OGCA, one rooted in celebrating excellence, leadership, mentorship, and service.
Most importantly, the event reinforced
the strength of the association's membership and the collective commitment to
supporting the women who continue to
inspire others, elevate the industry, and
make a lasting difference in construction
and in their communities.
