Student Innovation Takes the Stage at Limberlost Place

NTARIO’S CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY is
changing quickly, and the next
generation is already helping
shape what comes next.
This summer, the General’s
Lab Innovation Program, better
known as GLIP, will bring that momentum
to the stage at the 2026 Finals Showcase
and Networking Event. Taking place on
Tuesday, August 25 at Limberlost Place
at George Brown Polytechnic in Toronto,
the showcase will feature student 昀椀nalist
presentations, industry mentor feedback,
judging, prize announcements, technology vendors, career opportunities, and a

networking reception to close the day.
GLIP was created to connect post-secondary students with real construction
industry challenges and give them a
structured environment to build practical,
digital-昀椀rst solutions. Led in partnership
with the OGCA and supported by American Global Canada, the program brings
together students, contractors, mentors,
sponsors, educators, technology partners,
and industry leaders around one shared
goal: accelerate practical innovation for
Ontario construction.
This year’s participating students
represent schools across the province,
including George Brown Polytechnic,
Western University, Algonquin College,
Centennial College, Queen’s University, and
Cambrian College. The result has been a
diverse mix of solutions that touch nearly
every corner of construction, from 昀氀eet
utilization and MEP coordination to safety,
wellness, environmental monitoring, and
low carbon materials.
KAAS from Western University, which is
tackling ghost rentals, the idle equipment
that continues to accumulate rental fees,
insurance costs, and emissions without
contributing to productivity. KAAS is
developing a self-powered, magnetical-
