OR 75 YEARS, Eastern Construction
Company Limited has been doing
more than delivering buildings.
From its post-war beginnings in
Ontario to its current role on some
of Canada's most complex civic,
institutional, commercial, and mixed-use
projects, the Toronto-based contractor
has helped shape the communities where
people live, learn, work, and gather. Its
longevity reflects a commitment to technical excellence, trusted relationships, and
a culture prepared to adapt as the market
evolves.
Founded in 1951 by brothers Edmond and
Bud Odette in Windsor, Ontario, Eastern began as a regional builder serving a post-war
economy de昀椀ned by expansion, industrial
growth, and new community infrastructure.
Early work in the industry established a
reputation for reliability and craftsmanship.
By the 1960s, the company had relocated
to Toronto and expanded into retail and
commercial construction, delivering nearly
200 shopping centres and department
stores, and close to 100 grocery stores over
the following two decades. That growth was
measured not only in project volume, but in
relationships built, disciplined execution,
and a reputation for doing the work right.
